The first week of October in Evansville is typically where we begin to become fond of sweatpants and oversized shirts. Why? Obviously because the Fall Festival is in town. The Fall Fest is known for its deep fried delicacies and incredibly interesting food combinations. Each year we are surprised with new foods that we never knew we wanted. I compared 2017’s Munchie Map with this year’s and found a few newcomer food entries you might want to know about. (Disclaimer: I have absolutely no idea what any of these foods are.)

Cajun Crab Cheesecake Bites
Location: Booth 133
At first, I wondered if this would be similar to Crab Rangoon (yum), but then I noticed it’s listed under desserts. I’m fairly certain Crab Rangoon isn’t a dessert, so when someone wants to experiment and try this please report back and let me know if it’s literally cheesecake with crab. Thanks in advance.
Grippo Brownie Volcano
Location: Booth 134
Also new to the menu this year is the Grippo Brownie Volcano. Grippos and chocolate? Hmmmmm. Normally I’m not a fan of barbecue and chocolate together, but I also don’t normally use a donut as a hamburger bun soooo… I suppose I’ll be expressing my Evansville pride by investing in the Grippos industry this year.
Beef Sundae
Location: Booth 35
In case you were wondering, this was not listed under “dessert” on the Munchie Map. My question is this: is it literally ice cream with beef? I’m nervous. I’m uncomfortable. And I’m heavily reminded of that one episode of Friends where Rachel makes dessert. I’m probably going to have to try it.
Popper Burger
Location: Booth 34
This one actually sounds nice if it’s what I think it is. I like to think it’s a hamburger with jalapeños and cheese… but it’s the Fall Fest so who knows.
Cheesy Westside Pork Chop Bites
Location: Booth 92
You can definitely sign me up for this new entrée. It’s straight forward, from the Westside, and has cheese. Which is basically all I ask for in life.
Chi-Chee Burger
Location: Booth 49
I honestly have no idea what to expect from this except I can 100% confidently say that it’s made with beef.
What are you getting this year at the Fall Fest?
