So, what is Haynie’s Corner?

This little downtown district was named after George Haynie who built his drugstore in 1888, establishing the area as a community.

H. A. Woods Drug Store, 1022 SE Second St., across from the Alhambra Theater during 1937 Flood.

Once the Alhambra Theater was erected across the street from the drug store in 1913, the nature of Haynie’s Corner was sealed as the artistic district of Evansville.

Haynie’s Corner consists of four artistic communities: Riverside, Culver, Goosetown, and Blackford’s Grove. A fountain sits in the heart of this district and is a popular place for artistically-inclined individuals to congregate and share their talents.
