Now that we’ve survived the 8-months of Midwest winter, we’ve jumped right into mid-summer (catch you next year spring)! While it’s nice to enjoy the marvelous, sunlit days, it’s also pretty nice to escape the humidity and cool down. Here’s our favorite spots to chill when the going gets hot.

Burdette Park

With slides, diving boards, children’s pool, Olympic pools, and family pools, Burdette Park provides one of the largest aquatic centers in the Midwest. Whether you want to swim, tan, or play in the water, Burdette offers an unlimited amount of fun for only $8 per person ($5 for kids).

Hartke Pool

If you’re on the east side and fancy a dip in a pool, then you might want to make a stop at Hartke Pool. Hartke provides an Olympic sized pool with diving boards for only $3 per day (free for children).

New Harmony

To the west of Evansville sits pretty little New Harmony with a family pool and slide of their own. Make a day out of hiking the trails and then hitting the pool for a well-earned cool down. ($3 per day + $5 per car to enter Harmonie State Park)

Rochelle-Landers Pool

If you’re looking for a place to take your kids for a quick cool down, check out Rochelle-Landers Pool. This pool is located on Lincoln Avenue and is a mere $2 for adults (13+), $1 for kids (4-12), and free for kids under 3.

And if you feel like making a day of it:

Holiday World/Splashin’ Safari

Enjoy an easy trip to a local theme park that’s filled with all of your favorite holidays. Connected to Holiday World is the water lover’s paradise, Splashin’ Safari. Here you can float around the lazy river while working on your tan, enjoy a splash in the wave pool, or zoom down one of the numerous water slides.

Patoka Lake

An option for those who enjoy boating is a trip to Patoka Lake, located a mere hour and a half away from Evansville. Rent a boat (or bring your own) and enjoy a day on the lake. Looking for more a beach atmosphere? They have one of those too!

And if all else fails then,

Make some friends and use their pool. Let’s be real. The only friends worth having are the ones who have a massive pool (and preferably a slide). All joking aside, sometimes the best places to cool off are the pools in your friend’s back yard.
