We think a weekend brunch is a great idea any time of the year, but we especially love the Easter brunch offerings in our area…some with special dishes and drinks in honor of the holiday.  If cooking at home this Easter isn’t on your schedule, here’s a list of just a few of the places that will be open on Sunday.  Just click on the restaurant name to open their website and learn more.

Some restaurants will be taking reservations, so be sure to call right away.  If reservations aren’t offered, you may be able to call a few minutes ahead and ask about the wait time.

Bonefish offers a variety of market-fresh fish, handcrafted cocktails, and seasonal specialties.  If you haven’t yet tried their brunch, it is fabulous.  Not to mention, their endless bellinis, mimosas, and blackberry sangria with any entree.  Among the many brunch options, you’ll find the Half-Pound Wagyu Beef & Egg Burger, Oscar Omelet, California Omelet, and the Créme Brûlée French Toast.

Prime Time – 8177 Bell Oaks Dr. Newburgh 812-490-0655
This award-winning, locally-owned restaurant has become a popular spot for folks not just in Newburgh, but also in Evansville.  It’s worth the short drive.  And their Saturday & Sunday brunch won’t disappoint.  From 10-2, you can enjoy pancakes, a breakfast pizza, biscuits and gravy, a breakfast burrito, $5.99 mimosas and bloody marys, and more.  Unfortunately, they don’t take reservations, but you can call 5-10 minutes ahead to see what the wait time is.

This building, on the corner of 3rd & Main St. in downtown Evansville, has been home to a hotel, a college, a shoe store, a Farmer’s Daughter restaurant, and a radio station.  Now it’s the spot for Comfort by the Cross-Eyed Cricket.  Known locally as simply “Comfort” this restaurant has added a refined flair to the Evansville restaurant scene.  Hopefully you can still make reservations for their Easter brunch as spots seem to be going quickly.  If you can get in, you can enjoy their special Easter Buffet featuring everything from pancakes, sausage, and biscuits & gravy to chicken & dumplings, ham, roast beef and more.  With great side dishes and a fabulous selection of pies for dessert, this brunch menu will leave you with a feeling of…well…comfort.

Schnitzelbank – 393 3rd Ave., Jasper 812-482-2640
A top 10 restaurant in Indiana, this spot has been a popular go-to for German food.  This family-owned establishment offers specialties known far and wide and even has a working glockenspiel (German for “set of bells”) Click here for a rendition of an Easter song: All Around The Daffodils.  This Sunday will be a great time to come together with family and friends if you happen to be in the Jasper area and enjoy the Schnitzelbank’s special Easter Buffet, 11-2.  The buffet will include carved honey ham, breaded shrimp, roast beef with spätzle, chicken & dumplings, and much more!  Reservations are required, so hopefully you can still get in.

Known for their handcrafted martinis, cocktails, and flatbreads from the scratch kitchen, don’t miss this popular Sunday brunch spot.  On Easter, Bar Louie will be serving their regular brunch menu which includes biscuits and house-made jam, bacon and egg flatbread, breakfast tacos, avocado toast, omelettes, and more!

Biaggi’s serves up a large menu of Italian fare plus specialty cocktails in a laid-back setting.  On Easter, they will be offering their regular menu items as well as the Chef’s Features for April.  The April features include a Patty Melt Sandwich, Meat Lover’s Pizza, Mushroom & Roasted Red Pepper Lasagna, and Peroni Beer-Battered Walleye.

This favorite in the Haynie’s Corner district offers delights fresh off the smoker.  Their Easter Sunday menu will include smoked ham & leg of lamb served with your choice of two sides, cornbread & your choice of pie for dessert.  Their Sunday hours are 11-8.

Schymik’s Kitchen – 1112 Parrett St. 812-401-3333
A Haynie’s Corner favorite, Schymik’s Kitchen serves brunch every Sunday from 10-2. The brunch menu offers entrees including avocado toast, omelettes, eggs benedict, quiche, and much more!

Bob Evans – 1125 N. Green River Rd. 812-473-9022; 2825 W. Broadway- Princeton 812-386-1228
Bob Evans began in Ohio when Bob opened a 12-stool diner serving hot, homestyle meals at an honest-to-goodness value.  If you’re into hot meals and good value, then you’re in luck.  Bob Evans will be open on Easter with all of their fabulous breakfast, lunch and dinner options available from “down on the farm.”  Or if you still want to have that at-home meal, you can order one of their Easter Feasts to go, including the Easter Celebration Platter that includes slow-roasted turkey, two hickory-smoked ham steaks, house-made bread & celery dressing, homestyle mashed potatoes with gravy and green beans with ham.  All of this is served with cranberry relish, homestyle gravy and two freshly baked dinner rolls.

Cracker Barrel will be open on Easter, with menu specials that include Strawberry Shortcake made with golden pound cake and topped with vanilla ice cream, freshly sweetened strawberries and real whipped cream or Three-Cheese Squash Casserole featuring baked yellow squash with a creamy cheese blend, topped with breadcrumbs.  You can also pre-order an Easter meal to go.  And Cracker Barrel now serves beer, wine, and mimosas…you know…if you’re into that sort of thing.

Bokeh Lounge – 1007 Parrett Street 812-909-0388

The Easter Bunny will be at Bokeh Lounge Saturday, April 16.

What is normally a popular spot for the 21 and over crowd in Haynie’s Corner, Bokeh Lounge is catering to the entire family big time for a special Saturday Easter brunch, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.  Bring the kids for free photos with the Easter Bunny 11-2 and enjoy the Goosetown Platter, Biscuits & Gravy with Bacon, Banana Berry PB&Js, Confetti Pancakes, free candy and more!

Gasthof Amish Village – 6747 E. Gasthoff Village Rd., Montgomery 812-486-4900
The Gashof will be open on Easter from 10:30-3:00, but they will not be taking reservations.  Nestled in the heart of Southern Indiana’s Amish country, this restaurant was constructed in traditional Amish style by Amish craftsmen.  The 92-acre property includes a 25-acre lake, the restaurant, and antiques and craft shops.  Check out some good Amish cooking on Easter when The Gashof will be featuring not one, but two, buffets.

Bru Burger Bar – 222 Sycamore St. 812-302-3005
Bru Burger Bar Evansville is housed in the iconic Greyhound Depot building in downtown Evansville.  The former depot, which opened in 1939, is on the National Register of Historic Places and was a hub of activity that peaked at 106 buses arriving and departing daily.  The arrivals and departures now consist of happy customers and fans of the restaurant’s menu that consists of various takes on the American classic:  the burger.

According to their website, “Drake’s is a free-wheeling, fun-loving kind of joint…a place to hang out and let your hair down.”  But whether your hair is up or down, be sure to check out their brunch this (or any other) weekend.  Served on Saturdays & Sundays from 11-4, you can enjoy their sunrise breakfast quesadilla or breakfast burrito AND $4 bloody marys or mimosas.
