Thanks to Presidents’ Day falling on Monday, February 15, the Valentine’s Day weekend is a long one, giving you plenty of time to celebrate with your beloveds in multiple ways. Since the pandemic hit about a year ago, we have all gotten pretty good at finding alternative ways of celebrating. Lucky for us, area businesses have stepped up their creative options for offering entertainment in a safe and socially distanced way.

- Vincennes: Second Sunday nature walk at Ouabache Trail Park and free admission to state historic sites on president’s day
- Nieva Schapker’s Chocolate Walk at the Jennings Street Public House: Purchase a bag in the two weeks leading up to the event for $10. On Friday, February 12, and Saturday, February 13, take your bag around to participating businesses and they will give you chocolate! You are encouraged to browse the stores and shop at the same time. We will be open during normal business hours, have themed chocolates for your enjoyment and special Weekend Features that pair well with the chocolate you receive. All proceeds from the event go to the Newburgh Food Pantry.

The weather is dicey, but you could also go for a hike in one of Southern Indiana’s glorious state parks, or venture over to Paoli Peaks and spend the day skiing or tubing. Pack a picnic and have a winter adventure. Come home and snuggle by the fireplace (or the virtual fireplace) and warm up.
