Like most of our traditions and plans since March, our October is going to look a bit different than we are used to; but if you look hard enough, you can find some alternatives. Whatever diversions you choose this October, we hope everyone stays safe and healthy in the process, because you never know how and when a new tradition might start! We wanted to give you a heads-up on a few we were aware of and also give you the run down on the BIG one. Let us know about what you are doing to enjoy the tri-state this fall:

West Side Nut Club’s Fall Festival
You have undoubtedly seen the newspaper articles, watched the news reports and know by now that although a traditional mainstay of October in the Tri-State will look different this year, the West Side Nut Club’s Fall Festival has not disappeared. With your help, our community is salvaging the spirit of the Fall Festival and you can participate in new ways that provide fun while giving back to area non-profits with the proceeds they need to carry forward their missions for another year.
If you visit the West Side Nut Club’s Facebook, you’ll get the most up to date information including how to order limited edition t-shirts and sweatshirts! In the mean time here is how you can participate in the fun:
Half Pot
The Nut Club is selling half pot tickets at four different booths between now and Saturday, October 10. Walk-up booths are on West Franklin Street at 10th and 11th avenues. Two drive-up booths are in the parking lot across Lloyd Expressway from Mead Johnson. Motorists should enter the lot from Indiana Street and exit back onto Indiana Street.
Booths are open to the public Thursdays and Fridays, 3-9 PM, Saturday Noon-9PM, and Sundays, Noon-6 PM. On the last day of Sales, October 10, the booths will open 8AM-2 PM. All customers are asked to follow all masking and social distancing protocols.
A running total of the half-pot will be posted at nutclubfallfestival.com and nutclub.org and the winning ticket will be drawn sometime after 6 p.m. October 10.
Ticket prices:
- 1 for $5
- 3 for $10
- 20 for $20
- 50 for $40
King, Queen, and Youth Award
The Nut Club will recognize the festival’s king and queen and youth of the day award winners on its Facebook page during festival week, Oct. 4-10.
Non-profit food trucks
Many of the non-profit organizations who usually raise money by selling goodies from their booths at the fall fest are finding alternative ways to get their yummies into your tummies.
Contact your favorite non-profit and see what their food booth plans are this year and then make an effort to support them just as you would if they were on Franklin Street. Here are the ones that we have been able to track down, in alphabetical order:
