Hopefully, as the seemingly endless shopping and present wrapping stress is winding down, you’re finding time to make yourself and loved ones a big mug of hot cocoa filled with marshmallows and having a family night (or day, we’re not judging) dedicated to being curled up under a large fluffy blanket to enjoy a few Christmas movies together. There always seems to be a list of feel-good Christmas movies most people tend to gravitate to, so we tried to list a few of the must re-watch favorites:
Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer
Do you recall watching the most famous reindeer of all almost every Christmas? I know I sure do. A true 1964 classic, it’s a sad year when you miss that grace period where watching a Christmas movie like Rudolph is considered socially acceptable.
Frosty the Snowman
Another masterpiece of the 1960’s, you definitely don’t see animation like you see in Frosty the Snowman anymore. It’s always a nice little nostalgia trip to watch a movie that reminds you that there was a time where computers and computer animation didn’t rule the world (sigh).
Elf
Will Ferrell’s Elf is one of the more notable recent Christmas movies released over the years. And by recent, I apparently mean in the last 15 years. Anyways, this “recent” classic has become a go-to every Christmas season for many, and it’s always worth a re-watch.
It’s A Wonderful Life
This black and white classic is one that I would argue should always make it on your Christmas movie itinerary, especially if you have an interest in old movies.
A Christmas Story
If you’re an Indiana resident, then there’s a weird sort of pride you feel when watching A Christmas Story since the plot is set in good ol’ Indiana. It’s always a great re-watch, especially if you watch it in your own pink bunny onesie.
Miracle on 34th Street
It’s honestly been a hot minute since I’ve personally last saw Miracle on 34th Street, but I know quite a few people who would list it as one of their favorites to re-watch. Anyways, it’s definitely another feel good film and the 1990s version has the girl from Matilda in it.
The Santa Claus
While I don’t particularly love the sequels to The Santa Claus, the original is pretty darn good and shouldn’t be neglected from your hot chocolate session.
How the Grinch Stole Christmas
This one is probably my all-time favorite Christmas movie. Why? Because the Grinch is just so dang relatable. If you haven’t quoted the Grinch at least once since November, then you must be more like a happy Who from Whoville.
Die Hard
I do feel a little uncomfortable having Die Hard on here, but apparently to some people this is a “must watch” Christmas movie. Is it a Christmas movie though or just a movie that happens to take place on Christmas? Thoughts? Opinions? Concerns?
A Charlie Brown Christmas
And finally, you cannot avoid watching A Charlie Brown Christmas because it’s literally always on.
