The Holiday season is a special time of year that brings both warm fuzzy feelings and, occasionally, an insane amount of stress. Sometimes it’s easy to forget to enjoy this magical time of year, so in an effort to help you achieve that holiday spirit and help make your load feel a little lighter (pun intended), we found a few local places that will leave you feeling holly and jolly.
Ritzy’s Fantasy of Lights
If you’ve lived in Evansville (or anywhere in the tristate) it’s probably inevitable that you have at least heard of the famous Ritzy’s Fantasy of Lights. It’s a mile long stretch of beautiful and fantastic lights displayed in Garvin Park. You can either drive your own vehicle through it, or make it an even more magical night by hiring one of the carriages available! Your admission price goes to helping make a difference in the lives of local children and adults with disabilities.
Winter Carnival of Lights
Every night from November 23 until December 25 from 6-9 pm the Winter Carnival at the Vanderburgh 4-H grounds gets pretty… lit. It’s totally free and well worth a visit.
Panther Creek Christmas
If you head out to Owensboro, be sure to check out Panther Creek’s Christmas light show. It’s only $3 per vehicle to visit and free wagon rides.
Santa Claus Land of Lights
What are you even doing if you’re not going to Santa Claus, Indiana for Christmas activities? From 5pm to 9pm Lake Rudolph Campground’s 1.2 mile drive through light show tells the story of Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer. One of the best around, hands down!
Holiday in the Park
Another Owensboro gem, Legion Park boasts over 200,000 bulbs to provide you with the most magical half mile walk you’ll probably take all year.
Lights Under Louisville
This one may be a little farther of a drive than the rest, but it’s totally worth it! This unique light show takes place in Louisville’s famous Mega Cavern, which means you casually are driving your car underground to view spectacular sets of Christmas displays. This year an all new, open air tram tour is being offered that is a separate attraction from the self-drive tour. Whether you do one or both, it’s probably something you should check out at least once!
