The Evansville area is proud of its German heritage, so each year a number of festivals are thrown to celebrate our German roots. These events are great ways to bring people together to enjoy socializing in a light-hearted and fun atmosphere. Check out our list of the most popular upcoming German Festivals in our area!
Germania Maennerchor Volksfest
August 2-4
If you are 21 years or older, you’ll want to check out the Germania Maennerchor’s annual Volksfest. Serving authentic German food of brat, ham hocks, kraut balls, and kraut, you can enjoy a taste of Germany without actually having to go to Germany. This year the music will be provided by Rhine Valley Brass, Ratskeller Band, and The Schnapps Band.
Strassenfest
August 2-5
Enjoy a night in an open-air Biergarten (beer garden) and take apart in Jasper’s annual Strassenfest (or “street party”). This year will feature a parade, polka masses, arts festival, carnival rides, hot air balloon races, and an Autolauf scavenger hunt.
Kunstfest
September 15-16
The Kunstfest in New Harmony is a celebration of our German heritage through food, music, crafts, and art. With an expectation of 10,000 attendees this year, the 36th annual Kunstfest will be ornately decorated with black, red, and gold to represent the German flag, and demonstrations of blacksmithing, rope making, and basket making will be featured.
