Burdette Park

If you’re on the west side, then Burdette Park is basically a trip to your backyard. This easy trip makes it an ideal location for those who are either hoping to bring their kiddos along or for those who are perhaps wanting to have a fun trip without a huge travel-time commitment. It’s beautiful, fun and you’ll feel like you’re on an adventure without having to go too far from home.

Burdette Park offers both camping and RV sites with 18 full hook-up sites and 6 water and electric sites. For those who might be more like me and want to “rough it” with a campfire without *actually* roughing it, there’s also lovely 8-person chalets that include a breakfast bar and fireplace. So, pick your level of rough and have a great night/weekend/week/month of camping away!

Harmonie State Park

A short 40-minute drive (give or take) will bring you to the lovely Harmonie State Park. This campsite boasts a 200-site family campground and is reminiscent of the utopia the early settlers of the areas sought to create. There’s also a nice selection of cabins for those who prefer a roof while camping.

Patoka Lake

Maybe you’ve gone boating here before, but have you gone camping? Patoka Lake Campground is settled close to French Lick and West Baden which gives you nice opportunities to take a break from nature if you’re needing a different kind of atmosphere.

Indian-Celina Lake Recreation Area

If you’re looking for a beautiful getaway, then the Indian-Celina Lake Recreation Area might be a place to check into. Being close to Tell City, this campground is just a little over an hour’s drive from Evansville, and is located in the midst of the Hoosier National Forest. Camp your heart out and hike your way on the trails to both the Indian and Celina Lake.

Diamond Lake Resort

An easy visit to Owensboro, Kentucky can bring you to the exciting and rejuvenating Diamond Lake Resort. With go-carts, mini-golf, and pedal boats available on the resort, the options for fun are limitless. You can camp in a tent, or you can opt for a cottage, “tiny house,” or “tiny lake house.”

Rocky Falls RV park & campground

This campground is located right between Evansville and Mount Vernon and features 45 full hook-up RV camp sites and 100s of tent sites! Fishermen in your family will love the free stocked lake on the premise and nature lovers will enjoy the small fresh water creek and waterfall on the campground.

Lincoln State Park

Not only is this park a great place for camping, but its historical significance adds a little extra something-something to your stay here. Maybe you’ll want to participate in the interpretive center to learn how the early settlers lived, or maybe you’re interested in visiting the cemetery where President Lincoln’s sister is buried. Whether you’re a history buff or not, Lincoln State Park is a lovely place for a camping weekend. Lincoln State Park has 10 miles of hiking trails to conquer, two beautiful scenic lakes, 150 electric campsites, 88 non-electric sites, 31 primitive sites, and an array of cabins and cottages to choose from.
